  • Precast: BIM DESIGNER / BIM ENGINEER (Revit)

    The position requires:

    • 2+ years of work-related experience or specialized training in Autodesk Revit.
    • Solid working knowledge of current Autodesk Revit required.
    • AutoCAD & Navisworks experience considered a plus.
    • Ability to read and understand engineering & architectural drawings.
    • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
    • Passionate about using computers and software, in particular Revit.
    • Great time management and ability to work overtime as projects require.

    Responsibilities:

    • Create precast BIM models for use in analysis & documentation.
    • Document & annotate 2D plans, sections and details generated from BIM models.
    • Coordinate models & workflow between members of the design team.
    • Work with and create highly detailed and parameterized custom families.
    • Utilize proprietary add-ins/extensions specific for the precast industry.
    • Generate precast production drawings from BIM models.
    • Contribute to project-specific QA/QC efforts.
    • Work as a member of our BIM team and train/instruct staff in Revit.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in structural/civil engineering, architecture, engineering technology or related field
    • Associate’s degree in CAD Drafting

    Qualifications

    • BSCE required, MSCE structural engineer preferred.
    • Experience designing precast and prestressed concrete members and structural systems is preferred, but can also be taught to capable candidates.

    Job Description

    • Analyze and design precast and prestressed members, connections, and structural systems for expected design loads and product handling loads.
    • Communicate ideas, concepts, and designs to other engineers and drafters.
    • Troubleshoot plant and field issues.
    • Coordinate with design teams and clients.
    • Oversee, engineer, and produce precast shop drawings suitable for permit, production, and construction.

  • Precast: Senior Structural Engineer

    The position requires:

    • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with 1 year of experience.
    • Experience in advanced structural analysis and simplified finite element analysis to perform linear static and dynamic analysis of structural systems using RAM structural system or RISA 3D software.
    • Experience is developing automated calculation process for analysis and design of structural elements using Tekla Tedds.
    • Must be willing to travel to work in unanticipated locations throughout the US.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare preliminary, final analysis & design of all structural segments for composite steel, concrete, masonry, wood buildings using hand calculations, spreadsheets & structural software.
    • Work on building materials, engineering practices & mathematics to complete structural elements designs & drawings.
    • Create engineering change requests to released designs, update drawings/models & routes change through approval process.
    • Research on new technical software that meet project requirements & obtains quotes on specialized components.
    • Site visits to buildings to survey areas of concerns, assess severity of structural problems.
    • Prepare structural engineering reports providing accurate assessments, solutions & recommendations of any structural deficiencies.
    • Perform construction observations including engineering for review of construction or installation of engineering works to monitor in compliance with drawings and specifications.
    • Prepare project proposal estimates of time and expenses required for completing the project with defined scope and works within the trade space defined (cost / schedule /technology).
    • Develop standards and guidelines of technical concepts, principles and methods in assigned structural projects.

    Qualifications

    • Experience detailing concrete and fabrication drawings is preferred, but can also be taught to capable candidates.
    • Understanding of construction documents required.

    Job Description

    • Pare precast components from construction documents in accordance with the scope of our clients.
    • Produce precast layout drawings suitable for review by the design team and reviewing agency.
    • Layout drawing show intent and extent of precast scope for the project and become the basis to draw and check fabrication drawings for each precast piece. Layout drawings become the construction documents for the precast erector to use in assembling the precast components.
    • Precast drafters also draw the fabrication drawings for each piece of concrete and metal hardware embedded in the concrete and are responsible for the bill of materials.
    • Prepare precast layout drawings and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
    • Assume responsibility for bill of materials.
    • Coordinate with design team and precast plant personnel.
    • Troubleshoot plant and field issues.
    • Prepare precast shop drawings for permit, production, and construction.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Architectural Engineering, Master’s degree preferred.
    • A minimum of 4 years of design experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and wood.
    • Experience in the structural design and detailing of low-rise, commercial, residential, institutional, and healthcare facilities.
    • Professional registration (PE or SE)
    • Proficient AutoCAD skills. Familiarity with Revit Structure a plus.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Proficiency design software such as RAM, TEDDS, RISA, ADAPT, etc.

    Responsibilities:

    • Structural Engineering in various materials: concrete, steel, masonry, wood, etc.
    • Slab and floor system design, column design, wall design, foundation design, etc.
    • Lateral analysis & design
    • Coordination with CAD and BIM department
    • Coordination of drawings with other disciplines (Architects, Mechanical Engineers, etc.)
    • Responses to RFI’s
    • Reviewing shop drawings
    • Site observations
    • Attending project meetings
